I visited my aunt yesterday and spent the entire day with her and my cousins. She served me some snacks in the evening while I was working on my Mac. I think I was on Twitter, checking my feed when she asked me: “Sonia, what do you do for yourself?”
It’s quite a simple question: What do I do for myself? I mean I do a lot of things, like work, study, watch TV, sleep in and so on. Yet, when I heard this question I found myself stumped for a few moments. After a little bit of brainstorming, I was able to figure one very solid act that I do strictly for myself. I serve myself. I prepare a hearty breakfast and enjoy it very much before I leave for work every morning. It’s what I do for me. I enjoy it, and I feel valued when I do it.
In the past, I did a lot more than just that. I remember doing somethings with the sole intention of pampering myself. I bought myself gifts and specially wrapped them too. One time I even wrote a very sweet letter to myself and mailed it, to me! But I lost that part about me when in the past couple of years when my focus shifted from myself to others. And sadly, I forgot all about me.
But now that I remember again, I urge you all to remember as well. If there isn’t anything that you do for yourself, yet, find it. Reward yourself, pamper yourself. Do whatever it is that makes you happy. It could be helping others, painting, exercising, buying yourself gifts, blogging, writing love letters to yourself, anything that’ll bring a smile to your face.
So tell me, what do you do for you?
I love this! Your blogs are motivation.
