Armed with education and training, and fueled with the passion to help people, nurses are the backbone of our health care system. They provide support to health care professionals, care to patients, and compassion to families. If you are someone who dreams of becoming a nurse, don’t waste precious time on waitlists. Start pursuing a career in nursing today as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are valued members of a primary health care team and provide direct care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), physician or other healthcare specialists. Stenberg College Practical Nursing grads are qualified to administer medication, assess and monitor patients, assist in rehabilitation activities, educate clients regarding health-related issues and more.

“The Practical Nursing Diploma program at Stenberg College gave me the opportunity to help people of all ages, in all health care settings,” says Tia Serdachny, LPN, Stenberg Nursing Grad. “I gained useful knowledge about the field, but more importantly, I gained confidence in myself. With support from my instructors and peers, I realized that I was capable of so much more than I ever imagined!” Once a high-school dropout, Tia turned her life around at Stenberg and graduated with an impressive grade point average of 94%. She saves lives every day. Motivated by her ambition and passion to help people, Tia dreams of furthering her career as a nurse by becoming an RN.

For experienced LPNs who are looking to advance their career with increased responsibility and wages, becoming an RN is the next best step. Licensed Practical Nurses can put their LPN license, work experience, and practical nursing education toward continuing their education by opting for Access/Bridge RN programs*. Access programs, or bridge programs, are fast-track degree programs designed to help healthcare professionals gain further education in a short time. Most bridge programs allow LPNs with the right blend of experience and education to start their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Degree program in year two and re-enter the healthcare field as proud RNs sooner.

There is a continuous need for talented and passionate nurses throughout the province of British Columbia. Trained in our state-of-the-art Simulation Lab, which utilizes high fidelity mannequins to enhance learning, Stenberg College’s nursing graduates are better prepared to serve the community they work in. The education you will receive at Stenberg will prepare you to provide the best care possible as a proud health care professional. Additionally, with the growing need for nurses, you will be able to support yourself and your family financially.
